Galleries

We sell online through our own website, but we are currently also selling our glass through four lovely galleries in Cornwall. That's the lowest number for a long time just due to circumstances as galleries come and go, but plans are in the pipeline for at least another one in the early part of the year which we are very excited about.

So here's the run down with some little pics of the locations too.

St Just Arts and Crafts is in ... wait for it ... Cape Cornwall Street, St Just. A couple of minutes down the road from us, it is is our closest gallery which makes life easy for delivering stock, and of course picking up cheques. They stock most of our range along with a few specials such as a lamp.

St Just Market Square
Next up, Out of the Blue in Marazion. Lovely gallery, lovely location on the main road through Marazion. They stock mainly our smaller pieces and usually have a great display of our glass in their window.

Customs House Gallery is in Porthleven. Deliveries are always a great excuse for stopping off at Naughty but Ice for a coffee and something delicious to eat. Located on the harbour at Porthleven (left hand side as you look at the pic below) it is in a fantastic location and they stock a wide range of our glass.

And last, but certainly not least is Avellana Crafts in Mevagissey. The most delightful gallery with work beautifully displayed. They sell both Cornish and fair trade, and even though they are the furthest away, we love visiting.

So, if you are out and about in Cornwall, pop in for a visit, and say we said 'Hi'.

A Tea Leaf?

Okay, not tea leaves for a pot of tea, but when I filed this photo this week I called it 'tealeaf' - a leaf shaped tealight holder. Fused green glass that was then gently slumped, it was an experiment that went so well it is now on the website.

Secondly, along the lines of experimentation, Simon is delving back into the world of lamps with one made from four fused glass panels. This was them in the kiln last night, and I have to say they turned out beautifully.

Monday, he will have the copperfoil out to hopefully join them all together - watch this space. Then the lamp will probably reside in a local gallery - St Just Arts and Crafts - where there is a lamp shaped hole in their window display at the moment from selling a lamp of ours before Christmas.

My third experiment for today is running a little Facebook campaign for Valentine's Day. I have had some success with them before, but Mr FB is changing so much these days in the way that he displays messages. I am not sure how successful it will be this time around. Fingers crossed, here's hoping.

Valentine Hearts and more

It is January and the mizzly Cornish weather has driven me to the computer for a few hours to catch up and begin thinking about Valentine's Day.

Our new hearts have gone down very well in the galleries. I call them 'lush', almost like little jellies. Because they are made with two layers of coloured glass, and fused to a beautiful smooth and lustrous finish, they are much more striking than our previous hearts. We are very pleased with them.

Fused Glass Hearts from The Glass House
This year, we are giving away free a gift to go with any purchase of a heart light catcher before Valentine's Day (and if you all like it, we might well carry on afterwards). These cute little cloth bags with gift tag mean no messing around with wrapping up your present, just purchase, write your loving message on the gift tag and deliver to you sweetheart. How easy is that?

I am also working on some tealight dishes which are clicking away in the kiln as I write. More to follow on them soon.

Cornish Scenes ready for the kiln
And finally our Cornish Scenes went down very well in the galleries at Christmas so we we looking in to doing some more of these and also getting them online. Featuring local images such as rows of mining cottages, engine houses, churches, boats and lighthouses, I am going to try and do some very specific ones to show local scenes which will be fun.

I'll be back soon, but in the meantime keep in touch with all our news on our Facebook page.
